Queen of Frankfurt – a Creative Concept

Reimagining the City of Finance through my Creative Point of View

The Queen of Frankfurt places the city in a new setting: my creative concept for Frankfurt as a financial hotspot.

My Queen of Frankfurt is an illustrated homage to Frankfurt am Main – a creative reinterpretation of local characteristics, a playful exploration of the city’s identity as a financial centre, its traditional dish of Grüne Soße or Green Sauce", its regional landmarks such as the skyline and the poetic possibilities of drawn from my imagination.

The herbs used in Green Sauce become a couture dress, potatoes form a belt and eggs are transformed into earrings. The symbols of the financial city – the bull and the bear – become puppies that the Queen takes for a walk along the Main, heading “Dribbdebach”, a local expression for the south side of the river.

The floral ornaments of a Frankfurt applewine Bembel are transformed into floral elements along the banks of the Main. The Bembel itself becomes a bridge pier of the Eiserner Steg footbridge. The euro symbol of the European Central Bank, nowadays left behind at Willy-Brandt-Platz, becomes the sun, shining above the city.

The skyline, made up of bank towers and residential high-rises, is interwoven with banknotes. It combines Frankfurt’s distinctive local architecture with the themes of money and finance.

Above this poetic version of Frankfurt, a Bembel Air aeroplane takes off into the sky, flying towards an unknown destination.

A Creative Perspective Creates New Concepts

With my Queen of Frankfurt, I show how I work as an illustrator and Creative Concept Artist. I take existing things – whether if it is a product, a destination, distinctive details or a brand – and translate them into a new visual language.

Observation becomes visual interpretation. Familiar aspects of the city on the Main are transformed into creative elements that shift the way we see the city: playfully, affectionately and with a new narrative focus.

Official representations of Frankfurt associate the city with its famous skyline, the Main river (together forming “Mainhattan”) its role as a financial centre, the traditional dish of Green Sauce and the local sour apple wine, known as Ebbelwoi, traditionally served in a hand-painted Bembel.

Together, these elements illustrate the way my creative thinking works: I connect familiar symbols with fashion, humor and visual storytelling to create a new and original creative universe.

How could your product, event or brand benefit from this way of thinking? Let’s explore it together.
